May not have evidences to paste here as, I cant seem to know or see how to attach files. This is real and I wouldn't know the explanation elders here will give. I have a friend who got married in December 2016, started filing for the spouse (wife) who is based in Nigeria 7th of January. Lo and behold June 28 his spouse got her PR. That is calculated to be about 6 months as against indented policy of maximum 12 months. I started my PR journey on January 14th 2016 and June 4th I got my PR as against a back drop of stipulated policies from same AVO. Commo'n guys, who says God has stop the wrought of inexplicable miracles? The rules/laws says maximum of 12 months and not minimum. The reviews and updates we get here are for those that are registered on this forum, why then do we keep saying new and old, before and after. My file got transferred to AVO today and I am June 2017 applicant. I will update you guys of my timeline soon to enable us know that God is still in the business of "Miracles" Thanks all.
@ejirostephen I'm confused by this. Did you get your PR or not in June? Also, are you a June applicant or January applicant?

If you didn't do upfront medical, you should email them as 1 year is a loong time for them to not contact you to do your medical. For those that applied before December, the medical request normally came within a month or two of the transfer to Accra, I believe.
I did upfront medical but not in the designated hospital so I consider that null and void.

Wow am glad to hear that since that encourages us all to trust in the Lord and to be live in his ways.
Congratulations once again and believe we all will soon be on our way to Canada as I also applied in February and got the medicals request in 25th July and did my medicals on the 31st of July and saw last week that, my medicals have been received so hoping to get my passport request for my visa since being away from my wife is killing me and is making me sick hoping to reunite before the end of this year.# There's always light at the end of the tunnel#God is still in his miracle business don't give up and we all going to hear good news soon.

we finally got an email from them today, they want us to go do another medicals because its pass 12 months, meanwhile we were advised to do our medicals upfront that it will make the process faster. That is what they wrote on cic website.. we will have to spend another 350 dollars on medicals. this is just annoying, but we have no choice.

Congrats in advance!!!

Hi Denne, the August applicants I know on this thread did upfront medical but nothing much from AVO basically. So I'll advice u still keep calm cos medical is usually the last stage of this process for applicants that applied before the new Dec rule.

So once u get that request then u are on the finish line unlike Dec 2016 and forward applicants that get the request a month or two into the process. So don't worry too much but u could still write them and ask just to satisfy ur conscience.

You guys are very close to the end. Just keep keeping up, u re there already...Cheer!

you need to call CIC to expedite your file with request for medical. from experience sometime you need to give the call center a call. files that are picked up faster is usually depends on the applicant full details that was provided and genuiness of the relationship. with so much evidence provided to the processor the turnaround time is much quicker just an fyi

You're exactly right. Things work differently in regards to the medical for those who applied after Dec 2016. If you applied before Dec 2016 you should have done a medical either before you submitted your application or when you got sponsor approval as it said to in the letter. If you didn't do it then, then you must wait for their request as you can no longer do a medical whenever you want. If you haven't done it you can email them to see if they'll send the form but if you don't have it they will ask because that is the last step in the application for those of us who applied before Dec 2016. This does not apply to those who applied after dec 2016.
