It will take 4 years to apply for citizenship (current time is 3 years and current wait period after applying is about 18 moths, they are trying to bring it down to under 6 in the new bill)
And you can keep dual nationality
The bill is about revoking citizenship form canadian dual national who are involved in terrorism activities or activities against state like spying.
It has already been chalanged in courts

Hello All, Landed in Calgary on 2nd July via Montreal. Was a smooth process and took about 42 minutes. The only question asked was about POF, that is it cash or,,,,,.. Was asked this because have declared more than 10 k CAD on declaration card provided in the plane. Calgary is a nice place and if I compare from personal experience, UK was a crap. Do not worry about anything, its a beautiful and peaceful country.

The only thing missing at Montreal was the welcoming tone, immigration officials are really moody and not so welcoming.
