Thank You all. Called up IOM Migration Health Assessment - Islamabad but their office is closed now as it is already late for 5.00 pm closing time and they just gave me an email for medical appointment. What is the best way to send landing fee from Islamabad? I thought we could send it through credit card but it seems that option is not available. Is one to send landing fee after the medical or can one send it before that as well? Any experienced people out there?

Dear mashahzad, I'm not an expert but based on info I see here & on various forums and interacting with my friends who had applied in 2010 & received, first 6-12mo wait letters then 18mo wait letters from LVO, I would say:

1. many of the participants here are over optimistic
2. there are trends of LVO to interact with applicants - likely in March & October
3. no one has thought that why he/she got 18 mo wait letter even after 6-12mo wait letter but few got MR from PVO?
4. why few applicants got transferred to PVO?

Collectively, I'd say 'files those were absolutely FINE (where VO has no doubt about anything like POF, JD, REF Letter etc.) transferred to PVO for quicker processing.' That's how these lucky applicants got MR directly.

Where VO needs some more info to clear his/her doubts remain kept in LVO & sent with 18mo wait letter. There might by visa allocation issue too for year 2013. Due to these two reasons they got 18 mo wait letters so as to process them in 2014.

In short, 18 mo wait letter holders are no more on priority during 2013 (only), so I guess that they will start getting MR along with UDR (like fresh PCC) from Oct 2013 onward.

If VO has requested landing fee than you need to send ASAP - Meds will be sent to VO separately by DM and you would have to send the landing fee yourself. If VO hasn't requested the landing fee yet than you can wait for PPR1 / PPR2 and it'll be requested then. It can be sent via demand draft in the name of Receiver General of Canada

There is a weight in your statment.
I applied along with my friends. Same NOC, same date of application and same education.
Out of my four friends, only one got wait letter of 18 months.
My time of 6 - 12 months wait letter has gone over in last months. Caips notes says that LVO is waiting for confirmation of few things from Islamabad so until those verfication will not finish, file will remain in review.
Just send an CSQ email last week and got reply that my file still waiting for a review. I also asked in my eamil that why my friends file gone to PVO and why not my one. and I got reply about that question that it is LVO prcedure and only few files will be transfered depending on their prcoess timing and other factors which can only be decided by visa officer.
Rest, Here, every body says from their experience regardless of good or bad. God knows better whats going on.
However, it looks like that there is some thing in few files which were transfered to PVO and there is more to do in few files thats why they remained in LVO.

Hello.

I have two specific question.

Suppose I enter Canada on a study permit with a PR application pending. If the PR application is approved while I am in Canada what is the procedure for "landing". Can I land at a local CIC office?

Secondly, how will the 1095 day residency period be counted? Will it start from the day of landing at the CiC office even if I am still a student?

Did you recieve the 18 month letter? If not then your freind who got this letter his file is cleared and don't need further review based on your analysis

If you are in Canada when you get your PR, you have to go to the nearest border crossing with US and make an exit from Canada. You have to inform the officials that your intention is not to enter US but to make a uturn and land in Canada. They are well familiar with this jugaad and will oblige you. Just last week one of my friends did this from Kingston.
Your duration of residence while studying is taken into consideration, probably half day power day. My colleague submitted his application for citizenship without completing full residency because he had to come to Saudi however his study period was considered and the citizenship judge called him and chatted with him about household matters (probably to make sure that he is real) and granted him citizenship later.
