Okay so this is the deal.

My girlfriend at the time was told to leave the country in October of 2011 an i wasn't aware of it at all, she didn't tell me cause i think she was embarrass of the occurrence P.S. (No clue she wasn't a citizen or have any paper at all at the time. At the age of 19-20 that doesn't concern you as much you're more focus on dating and having fun). So things got serious in December when they send out a search warrant for her, the immigration came to my house and left a number so i can call, when i phone them they question me asking if i know her, and i said no cause i didn't know what the heck they were talking about or why they wanted to arrest her so i kinda panic. After i spoke to her n ask her what the heck was up, and that's when she told me that she filed for refugee and a year before her mom filed for PR for her.

Anyways, the following week (13 of December) immigration found out that she was staying at her moms and came and looking for her. She phone me from work and told me so i went and drove her home, and they took her away on the 13 of December and on the 19th i bought her a ticket to go back, cause if they buy your ticket i hear its harder to come back... so anyways she went back on the 19, and i travel to her country (St.Lucia) and we got married on February 04. On march 20, 2012 all the paper was was complete and ship to immigration on march 27.

now we're waiting for immigration, and shes thinking about coming as a tourist to visit Canada, cause she has a new passport and new last name, and shes coming with someone.... So what do you guys think?

I think since you submitted all the info to immigration they are aware of who she is and her new last name. My fiance was also deported so it would depend on the deportation order that was given to her and how long she is excluded from visiting Canada. The minimum ban is 1 year, this will be an the exclusion order they gave her when she left the country.

You are much in the same situation as we are, unless she is from a visa exempt country, she will have a difficult time obtaining a visa well the sponsorship is in progress, reason being is they beleive if you have this in process she has no reason to return to her home country. So again, like us, you would be better to travel to go see her until the process is over.

yup, she lives in a visa exempt country

If she is from a visa exempt country then she should have no problem coming in for a visit, they may ask her about the sponsorship, tell her to just be honest, as long as she doesnt have a bunch stuff and does not appear to be staying for a long time or moving, it should be ok

Thank you, sounds great

Hi Morlon,

My husband also went thru something similar, he was living in Canada from 2001 applied for refugee status and got denied...They sent a letter to his house but he never recieved it because he relocated to another house. He eventually decided to move back to europe where he was from and never bothered to check out at immigration since his case was already dismissed and he never thought he would ever go back to Canada. Fast-forward to 2011, he meets me (a Canadian), fall in love, end up getting married and decide to have our wedding reception in Canada...We arrive at Vancouver Int airport and he gets deported back to London-basically by deportation, he has cleared his name on his search warrant because they never knew he left Canada. At this point, im totally freaking out since its our wedding reception and have no idea whether he will be able to return back into Canada. He basically had to go to the high commisioner's office in London and get what is called a AUTHORIZATION TO RETURN TO CANADA form which normally takes a few months I have no idea how but he was able to get in a few days and was able to return to Canada for our wedding thank gawd!

It doesnt matter if she has a new passport, believe me. We thought the same thing!!! Save yourself the stress, time and hassle at the airport and get whats called an AUTHORIZATION TO RETURN TO CANADA before you arrive, might need to also have an interview with the high commisioner wherever your office is that you are dealing with. Otherwise, chances are she will be deported back to clear her name...Hope this helps!!
