Our deadline for documents to be sent in is August 13th. We have been trying to get a police clearance certificate but its not even working. They now tell my husband that he has to have proof he has lived at that address for a year and if not they will not issue the pcc. My husband has lived in Pune for less than a year. The file has not been shifted from the Passport office to the police station for long time a month. We are seriously running out of time. They told him to bring in a affridavit from the landlord and some letter from the society there, say he has lived there for a year. None of that is possible since he has not lived there for a year. We are so upset because our file will be cancelled if we dont have the documents in and he will lose the visa. Our file is stuck in the passport office. What do we do?

How about he uses the address he has lived at for more than a year. Let's say in a different city or region of India or his previous home address just to make things a bit easier on both ends?

well I dont think he can. He has not lived in his home town for some time. He wanted to go back to his home town cause he knew it would only take a couple of days to get the PCC> but we were told it had to be in the place he actually resides. The landlord lives in another city and is extremely hard to reach, and there is no way this whatever society they are talking about will give him a document since he has not lived there a year, they said dont bother coming back unless you have those documents. If he takes his passport from the passport office, and files from his home town, we dont think we will be further ahead because there he has a file number for the present PCC he is trying to get so if he applies for a new Pcc in home town they will think something strange when they do the check. We could be screwed more than we are now. So we dont know what to do :'(

I'm not experienced in this but I wanted to give you **hugs!**. You two have been through so much and you'll get through this! Can you contact CIC and tell them that you need more time? I hope someone more knowledgeable comes along and gives you more answers.

This is India for crying out loud, can't anyone help him out to prove his address just for a year? Like come on, I don't see why it's such a huge deal for them to show proof of residence for a year just to get a PCC.... arggghhhhssssss ..... at these ppl man.

Keep strong Boyee .. you can do it :)

Apparently the passport office sends the file to the main police station and then to local police station, which they have NOT done. We know we have to "donate" to the police stations, but we have come to learn that still there is no guarantee that anything will be done apparently this area is noted for taking money and doing nothing. He kept saying to me, boyee I will go to my home town, and I said you cant the documents say you have to do it where you reside. he said If i do it here it will be a huge mess. he said I know if I go to my home town it will be in my hand in a couple of days. I said but the documents state you have to do it where you reside and what if you do it in your home town then we could be screwed big time. He said this area is not good they will mess with everything. Boy was he right. I dont know how we can fix this mess. :'(

I did email Delhi some time ago and told them that our hold up was the police clearance certificate and if we could send in our documents that we had and once the PCC came we would send it in. I was thinking they would hold the file open if we sent something in. So they replied and said to send in all documents together once the PCC was issued and they would process it as soon as they received it. But that gives me NO relief. THe visa office that I complained about is doing our file. She has the power over our file, and i worry about revenge. I cant tell you what my mind is doing right now. All these years to get this close and finally get a yes and win an appeal and struggle and struggle and now to be sooooo close I can smell the ink on the visa to have this fall on us. I dont know. I just dont know

You can do it .... have you thought about consulting with a lawyer on his end? How about other Indian nationals within your community?

Hey, why don't you call the Indian High Commission in Canada and explain your situation to them in detail?

God, I wish I had answers to give you but I hope my suggestions take you somewhere.

Well it all boils down to the police dept. Just to update. My husband descided to go back to the police department and just arrived home to tell me what happened. He said that he talked to someone there and they said to come tomorrow with his documents. We dont know what is going to happen but we are trying to be hopeful. My husband is taking documents and "donation" so hopefully someone will have a heart. He has ready paid money and got nothing. So I guess its not over with yet, but I hear the fat lady in the wings warming up her voice.. Hope she gets laryngitis. lol.

LOL ... see, this process hasn't driven you to insanity ... you still have your sense of humor ... LOL .. was the IO a fat beatch?

I am trying very hard to not let this get to me. God is somehow keeping me sane.

Well my husband said she was nasty looking woman. She was and Indian woman. She had hateful disposition and look about her and my husband said that he knew just by looking at her that we were not going to get a visa. As soon as she walking in the room she said to my husband. I dont believe your relationship is real and I dont think you can convince me. She said NO Indian should marry a Canadian. I didnt know her opinon of what nationality should marry whom was important but the fact she was working for Canadian goverment she should have been grateful.

It makes me sick when I read something like this. This woman works for the Canadian Government and if this happened on Canadian soil, she'd have her a%* handed to her a platter. It makes me so angry that people (especially in Africa and parts of Asia) are subjected to this kind of treatment. Our futures are in the hands of jaded government officials like this. There should be NO WAY I/O's should have as much power as they do. In another thread someone suggested that all interviews should be video taped. I think that is an excellent idea.

Sorry for what's happening to you boyee.

Lynn

yes I have been saying that too.. Video and audio for all intereviews. I think its only fair. I am sure there are some IO that are accused of things that didnt happen because alot of people are bitter about being rejected so my feeling is this would protect both sides and be the fairest way possible. They have too much power for sure.

Thanks but I know we all are suffereing in one form or another, my case is no different than others who are struggling. We are all in this kind of in this boat together. Not all same problems but problems of injustice and red tape and falling through cracks.

One day this is going to be over with and I can honestly say what doesnt kill you will make you feel awfully old ROFL.

Ps.. my husband call the head of some society, and they are going to issue him a letter of residence for NOTHING!! no charge. :) he picks up the letter tomorrow and then off to the police station and "donation".. Hopefully good news.

YESS .. loving the great news Boyee ... see, it's going to work out.

I don't get why the CHC is turning nationals of that country into IOs. Obviously they will hold lots of bias against their own people.

I am from the Caribbean but my ancestors are from India. Therefore, I am East Indian.

I will tell you this, from my experience working with my own Indian people it's like a another way of saying you will always lose no matter what because they are always jealous of seeing their own people move one step up the ladder. My dad would always say Indian people are like crabs in a barrel, they don't like to see their own move up. Soon as one crab moves up the barrel to escape the other/s pull him down.

AS a matter of fact, this happens to people from the same cultural backgrounds whether it be African, Asian or Latino. I more so see it happening to Indians. Don't know why but I just do.

And I have to agree with exactly what my dad said about us people.

If this were a person who is educated and of a different cultural background, do you think any of this would have happened especially the bold and brave conclusion that they don't believe your rship is genuine before even interviewing you?

It's things like this that really itches my nerves. I really hope she suffers from laryngitis .. LOL

Very good news!!!

I'm sorry that there's so much corruption there, but nobody seems immune to these IOs. I just read about an American lady here who had horrible treatment from the IO and the judge at her appeal.. saying bad things about Americans, etc.

I know we Americans don't have a lot of fans, but still isn't fair :)

It's terrible that, basically, a single person has the power to ruin your entire life.. literally.

I really hope this whole mess is over for you soon, and that something happens one of these says to reform this immigration system.

I know we certainly wouldnt have been treated in a racist way if we would have had another officer. I believe with all my heart that my husband would have one at the interview. We had many years and I had been there before we got married etc. I know we had a few flags, age difference and divorce, but to be honest those things would have been cleared up had we had a visa officer that was interested in doing their job right. Same as poor canadianwoman. That poor soul has gone through the ultimate hell. No one should have that much control over your life.

I am your fan sbwv09 :) Doesnt it seem ironic that immigration dept is racist?

confusedandscared: yes I know exactly what you mean. My husband said he had to keep his visa a secret from certain members of his family because of that kind of thing.

thanks to you all for your support. hugs to all
