Hi

I am also going to move to Canada in April 2009. I consider following things to be well prepared

passport and ticket of all

certificates

settlement fund

list of items taking with you and list of items unaccompanied

COPR forms

Address for the PR Card

Reserve a place to live

Some money till you open a bank account

Anything else?

Good luck

Maybe you wanna know one of these?:

- cancel all insurances u don't need. (Car, life, accidental, pp.)
- think about your bank account in you current country- do you still need it?- how much money do you keep there
- cancel phone, cellphone contracts.
- see that there are not to many letters you wil receive while beeing in Canada already. So look for an address u can send ur mail to before u leave.
- inform as many institutions as u can that you leave, delete as many customer # (catalog companies, pp.) as u find/remember

Just to give u an idea... Hope it helps!
