'There have been no updates to your application' email - why did I receive this?

Hey,

I was just wondering if this is an regular email people get from cic.

It just took me by surprise, being sent at 8pm.

It says:

'There have been no updates to your application (insert application no.) since you last checked your MYCIC account. Thank you for your patience.'

Is this just a notification? I assume it is with regards to my BOWP application. I haven't logged into MYCIC since I sent the application a month ago and I haven't requested any information. But I know I get an email if MYCIC is updated or if a message is received so why is this email necessary?

Yes, this is normal. It usually comes every month since you applied until they make updates on your file.

It happened to me a few times last year when I applied for my first bowp. I applied again about 2 weeks ago and already received a ghost email.

I received a ghost email too, just a few days after applying.

normally happens when you log in to see any updates and there are none.. it later sends you and email that since you last logged in there have been no updates.. very random..
