My wife is waiting to apply to continue university studies, which she can't even apply for until the PR is finalized.... so effectively life is on hold for the 26 or so months that the process is taking now, and then University wants you to apply 9 months in advance of the program start date, so depending when PR comes it could be almost another year before being able to continue studies, so almost 3 years of holding life up waiting for the long process. The degree she wants to finish does not accept international students, so all she can do now is wait

It is a shame they can't speed things up as it is a long time to be in limbo waiting to get on with life and getting 2 or 3 years older waiting

wish the government could see that a 26 month waiting period is kind of inhumane

apply outland. more than likely she will be a pr within 12 months. depending on where she's from, it can even be half that time. there's no rule that states a person who is in canada as a visitor, student or worker can't apply through outland. in fact it's encouraged to do so in the inland guide.

Inlanders who applied earlier this year (Feb, March) are getting COPR and PPR's. The current statistic is 22 months processing time, though inlanders in the reduction program are seeing PR's in 4-10 months in some cases. You might want to: order GCMS notes to see if wife's case was added to the inventory reduction exercise, and apply for a study permit.

interesting, I hadn't heard that, I just see that people applying inland almost a year before us are still only on the first step, mine still shows "in process" on my sponsorship of her in the status

she got an OWP already, study permit wouldn't help because the program she is waiting to apply for does not accept international students, she needs the PR before she can apply
