As per IRCC:

  • For the applicant’s current country of residence, the police certificate must have been issued no more than 6 months before the submission of the e-APR.
  • For countries in which the applicant no longer resides, the police certificate must have been issued after the last time the applicant stayed in that country for 6 months or more in a row.
  • Police certificates meeting the above requirements can be accepted even if they have an expiry date that has passed.
  • This includes the requirement to provide a police certificate for countries in which the individual has travelled for 6 months or more in a row, whether or not the individual had an established residential address during this time.
  • Police certificates are required upfront and are mandatory for each country (except Canada) where an individual has spent 6 months or more in a row within the last 10 years. The individual does not need to provide one for any period of time before the age of 18.
  • Police certificates need to be a scan of the original police certificate(s) in colour. Certified true copies and unauthorized copies are unacceptable and will result in the application being rejected as incomplete.
Applications that do not include a required police certificate and do not provide supporting documentation where required will be rejected as incomplete.

The officer can exercise discretion when assessing whether police certificates that do not fall within standard IRCC parameters may still be required to process the application. When necessary, an officer can use discretion in their determination of whether or not a client is admissible to Canada by using other documents or mechanisms that are available to them.

It clearly states that you only have to provide PCC for each country (except Canada) where an individual has spent 6 months or more in a row within the last 10 years.

The instructions are clear.
Thanks for your detailed reply.

so even if I have stayed more than 6 months in Malaysia after the age of 18 but more than 10 years ago.
Not Providing pcc for malaysia in the application will not be the reason for rejection?

Hi Legal Falcon @legalfalcon

I got request to RPRF last week after 9 months as i did not pay upfront fees. My medicals already passed and biometrics have been submitted 2 months ago. I received three ghost updates before this fee request came over the past two weeks. Now since I have paid the amount and have uploaded the receipt, what could be next steps now .

My online profile still shows eligibility, background in process.

Hello
I submitted my e-APR and even received my biometric letters. In the letter I noticed my name was printed only first and last name. That's when I realized I have typed my first name in the given name section without including my middle name. How can I rectify this issue?

Hi @legalfalcon, Do I need to have at least 6 months validity of my passport? Currently my application is in progress and my passport is expiring on 29th June 2021. I have not done passport renewal yet as I was planning to do it in India in January. I live in Vancouver BC and the BLS Canada does not process Tatkal passports for Vancouver jurisdiction. What will happen if I get CoPR/PPR and I am in India? I will be applying for passport renewal by 10th January 2021. I am worried. Please guide.

If you get a PRR while you are in India, you can inform IRCC of the same and submit your passport in India for a PRV.

@legalfalcon My application was approved and should receive PRV and passport back in about a week. My question is my passport will be expiring in 7 months, can I renew my passport and carry old PRV and new passport when I land in Canada ? OR it is advisable to land in Canada and then apply for new passport ?

If your old passport has any valid visas, they remain valid even if your passport may have expired. You can travel with valid visas in an expired passport and a new passport.

The online status will continue to show in progress until a decision is made. RPRF is sent when your eligibility is passed or recommended passed. This is a good sign.

All application go through the following stages:

R10
Criminality
Medicals
Eligibilty
Security

To read on the stages see https://bit.ly/388c4Z2

I did. Did anyone went through the same mistake? Knowing someone else had the issue and resolved it will make me feel alot better
It is common, but if that makes you feel better, you can search the forum.

Currently with all the delays due to cOVID, it is very difficult to predict anything. For most security is a fairly quick process and takes 1-3 weeks, but for applicants who get stuck in enhanced security screening, it can take over a year.

Also factors where your application is at, the work load etc. will have have an impact on how quick the processing happens.
