hi, i intend to move to calgary for 6 months starting in june. i would like to know as the cec website is so confusing. what do i need to cross the border if taking a car and minimal furniture for a rental. and who do i need to talk to at the airport when going through customs with my 2 cats which i will carry on the plane. i know to work i need a visa, which i plan to network when i move, but would like to know if as a visitor for 6 months what my requirements will be to cross. and, can i come back to US during that time freely?

thanks in advance for response. :)

Launilee - what you are asking has nothing to do with CEC, so no wonder the website is confusing. There is a separate topic on this forum for temporary residents and workers, you will find a lot of information there, but as a US citizen, a lot of it will not apply to you (e.g. visa requirements).

Second, most of your questions are better answered through the Canada Border Services Agency, CBSA - call them. Talk to them to find out if what you're planning is even legal - you don't want to get banned from Canada just yet :)

Third, as a US citizen you do not need a visa to work in Canada, but iwould need a work permit.
