My girlfriend and I are temporary medical staff travelers. We have an offer in Calais, ME for a 13 week assignment, but there is little to no housing in Calais. There is abundant housing across the river in St Stephen, NB though. My Question is what kind of visa is required to live in Canada while working in the US, and what obstacles might we encounter?

There is unfortunately no visa available that allows you to live in Canada while working in the US. You'll need to sort out housing in Calais.
