Tax return for sponsorship application

I'm gathering all the documents to apply for sponsorship and bring my husband to Canada. I don't have the last 3 tax return because I wasn't living in Canada and I'm waiting from an answer from Canada Revenue to see if I have to declare taxes. This answer could take months ans I really need to apply ASAP. Is there something elase I can do to replace that? Is there something I could do or say? Please advise... help

Include a letter of explanation, recent payslips and a detailed plan of how you will support yourselves.
