You have two options for applying for refugee status. The first is to leave Syria and move to another country. Once you are there, you'll need to be officially recognized as a refugee by UNHCR and then selected by UNHCR for resettlement in Canada. The second option is to obtain a tourist visa to Canada and then claim refugee status when you arrive here. In order to get a tourist visa, you must have a valid passport and must also demonstrate you have strong ties to your home country and enough money to pay for your trip to Canada.

Will I have any legal repercussions if I do that? I am trying to flee my country ASAP because I am in great danger here in Nicaragua. Thanks in advance for the information.
