Hello, I was in the CIC website and saw this:

Following the announcement made by the Department of Foreign and Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT), CIC, in partnership with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), has committed to process the vast majority of visa applications for spouses and dependent children of Canadian citizens within five calendar days. All normal visa requirements, including admissibility and fees remain in place.

I have made an application to sponsor my wife (Who is in Syria) and I was accepted as a sponsor and now we're waiting for her permanent residence basically. What I'd like to know: is her permanent residence application considered a "Visa application"??? Does this announcement affect my situation? What should I do?

Thanks for any input.

Hi,
Yes it does affect your application if your wife lives in Syria! :)
Another forum member was in the same boat, her husband's permanent residency application was in process in Damascus for about 7 months and after this news her husband went to the embassy and I think he got the visa on the same day!
So definitely tell your wife to contact the embassy.
Also here is the link of the Damascus thread, other members may be able to give you more info!

Hey, thanks for replying. Do you know who the forum member is? I'd like to know exactly what she did and ask her a question or two.

Thanks.

Her name is Ramz27 :)

call the emergency numbers which mentioned in the web site of embassy.
Do not loose time if your wife lives in Syria.
In 5 days she can get her visa.
