Dear All,
I don't know if somebody wrote about this before, but there have been changes regarding the Damascus VO, it seems the Canadian Government decided to close the embassy there due to the civil unrest in Syria, and they are moving the immigration files to Warsaw (Mine was moved to Warsaw), please find below their broadcasted notice:

Notice - Situation in Syria
Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) is working in close partnership with other federal departments on the Government of Canada’s response to the situation in Syria.

Following the announcement made by the Department of Foreign and Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT), CIC, in partnership with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), has committed to process the vast majority of visa applications for spouses and dependent children of Canadian citizens within five calendar days. All normal visa requirements, including admissibility and fees remain in place.

We strongly encourage Canadian citizens in Canada not to travel to Syria in order to accompany their spouse or dependent children for their visa application. Non-Canadian spouses and dependent children of Canadians should apply for a visa to come to Canada, and are urged to bring documentary proof, such as birth and marriage certificates, of their relationship to the Canadian citizen to assist in this process.

Canadian citizens in Syria requiring consular assistance should contact the Canadian Embassy in Damascus at 963 (11) 611-6692, 611-6851, or 611-6870, or call DFAIT’s Emergency Operations Centre collect at 613-944-2471. An email can also be sent to sos@international.gc.ca.

Temporary residents whose status in Canada is due to expire and who are unable to leave Canada because of the current situation in Syria must apply to extend their status in the usual manner (through the Case Processing Centre in Vegreville). Normal eligibility requirements and the fees associated with these applications continue to apply.

Updates will be posted on the CIC website, as available.

Have a nice day and good luck for all.
And I pray to God to save my brothers and sisters in Syria.
