Hello,

I have been a PR since 2010, but only lived 15 days in Canada, because I got a Job in the US and ended up staying (have a green card now). The Canadian PR expires 12/2015, I have a business trip to Canada in June. (1) Will they let me in at the airport? I am willing to surrender the PR at the port of entry as a final resort (I am newly wed, and we may consider moving to Canada sometime - pending that spouse finds a job in Canada, she is already looking).
(2) Is there anyway, I can keep the PR till August (without reporting and appearing before court and this stuff) and still get to Canada in my business trip?
Please advise on (1) and (2). Much appreciated. Thanks, H.

You travel to Canada and enter as PR. You may get reported by officer for not meeting residency requirements. When reported you have the option to either leave or appeal within the time period specified, usually at least a month. You don't seem to care for keeping your PR status for now so you should just leave before you are required to. You should not have problems visiting or applying for PR in the future.

They will let you in the country regardless. Show them your PR card, answer the questions truthfully. If they want, which is the worst case scenario, they will seize or ask you to voluntarily surrender PR card. After that you can enter Canada.
I am in a similar situation. I have a US green card and canadian PR since last year. I am planning on going to Canada for a short trip.
Please do post your experience after your travel.
