Hi all,

I am currently in Canada under Post Graduation Work Permit until July 2020.
I am married to a Canadian and we are about to send out our sponsorship application soon.
My question is do I have to apply for an extension of my open work permit because my sponsorship application will exceeds 7months ?
If I have to apply for and extension of open work permit what kind of supporting documents should I include besides the form imm5710e?
FYI. I'm working full time with an Alberta employer and I am sending proof of enrollment with my sponsorship application.

Thanks!

Yes you should apply for an extension since the PR process usually take 12 months. Better be safe.
For the supporting documents, check the checklist. There is one that comes with the request for OWP.

If you want to keep working throughout the process, yes, you need to apply for the OWP. Otherwise, before your PGWP expires, you need to apply to change your status to visitor and stop working as of the PGWP expiry.

Thanks for your reply. Can you provide me with the supporting documents that I should include with my open work permit application. Thank you
