One of my friend applied for canadian PR and after few years now he got visa to go to Canada. But he did not updated his marital status once he got married...what he can do now? He obviously cannot leave his wife and kid in his country he currently resides in. Please advise.

Thank you.

Did he get married before or after he landed in Canada and became a PR? What was the date of his landing? What was the date of his marriage?

Sorry - I just re-read your message and it sounds like your friend has just received the PR visa now but has not landed in Canada. If that's the case, should notify the visa office immediately that he now has a wife and children. He should then return the visa he has now and submit the paperwork required to add his wife and children to his application. The visa office will then process their forms and re-issue a visa for him and his entire family once this additional processing has been completed.

Tell him that he cannot use the visa he has now to land (if he uses it to land, he will never be able to sponsor his wife and children and could have his own PR status revoked for lying about his status on landing).

i think it comes under misrepresentation because he didn't timely inform visa office. now he has lost the right to add spouse in application. forget about it now because if he discloses whole application will be gone..

Agreed........the first misrepresentation action will b y he didnt inform VO when he got married......then also a child added.......means its a process of 2+ years and he didnt inform VO during this period.
Go for landing and then find some other situation like admission of ur wife in some course there in canada and when she reach there find some other solution otherwise there is maximum chances of misrepresentation action against u
Take Guidance from Mr. Qorax, may be he give u some better solution

Initially when application was filled, he was not married, 1 year after that he got married, and did not updated the status with CIC, now he just got the PR, but has not yet landed in Canada, so what is the best possible way to overcome this situation.
