Hello friends,

Has anyone applied for open work permit along with the PR ? I see that its is allowed for "LIve-in caregivers", so wondering whether anyone tried that with CEC as well ? I am planning to try that approach, if this was not tried earlier.

Any suggestions?

If you read through the requirements of the BOWP you'll notice that this is not possible. As one of the requirements is that you got first stage approval of your PR applicants, hence you've already received the AOR by the time you apply for the BOWP.

Yes, but unfortunately i have to leave Canada in Jan 2014 and if i am waiting for AOR to arrive then I will be out of country already :(, so wondering about the workaround. Thanks!

One option could be to check out the BOWP and the aor timelines and send a paper application. IF your current work permit is still valid you would move onto implied status until you get a decision on your BOWP.
The hope is that the visa officer looks at your case for the BOWP after the aor is issued.
It's risky but worth looking into

Thanks lpc19800 !

Might be your best and only bet. :)

Thanks Toby! BTW I read your CELPIP English test comment earlier and wanted to say that I agree with your views on CELPIP and its much simpler then IELTS.

In my perception IELTS is a scam as i was very confident on all 4 categories except writing as i lost time due to nature call ...to my suprise i got 5.5 in Reading & passed writing with 6. Instead of asking for recheck (becasue even if they provide band 6 in Reading they wont refund the money unless total band changes) , i applied for CELPIP and i got 5H in R and all others 5L. So IELTS is seriously having issues & my recommendation to all of the people here in canada is to go with CELPIP.

I deviated from topic, but wanted to make sure i call that out ;)
