Stunned at Speed of Processing

Just received Sponsorship Approval, less than a week after Acknowledgement of Receipt by Mississauga. I'm stunned at how fast it is. DHL delivered the package on 03 March, got AOR on 15 March and Sponsorship Approval on 20 March. Is this sort of speed normal? I'm doing an Outland App.

The application has now been forwarded to Manila - do you think that this speediness will continue, or will it bog down there?

Maybe I shouldn't ask, it it might jinx things.

I do have a question, on the AOR they use my wife's maiden name, but on the sponsorship form they have the correct name. Should I be concerned about two different names being used?

Hi @Gumby749, congrats on your AOR and SA. Its a small step but you are advancing and thats the point!
So hey, you are an outlander? If we check processing times outland at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm-fc.asp
The Assesment of sponsor (Stage 1) also known as Sponsor's Approval (SA) is estimated in 28 days. So you are n the right track!
Step 1 outland is actually way faster that inland (step 1 is estimated in 8 months for inland). Step 2 for Manila is counted at 14 months.

For what concerns the name, im an inlander, and i have been receiving some correspondance in my maiden name and some on my married name, i call cic and they told me not to worry as long as i have documents on both names (true reason is that im in quebec and quebec does not accept married names, so cic treats me as married while quebec treats me as single).

IF YOU ARE INSIDE CANADA, you should definitely try giving a call to the telecenter.

Ah, that is good to know,and makes more sense. I have been following various threads and had inferred that the wait was much longer.

Fourteen months on average for Manila! Wowsers, that is quite the bottleneck. Oh well, fingers crossed.

Manila isn't known for its speed unfortunately..

I felt the same excitement as you at first. Things were going so well, it was like clock work. Now, after 8 months of waiting, not so much. Angry and upset seems to be the flavor of the day when your life is being put on hold by the state and the people who will dictate your future.
