Hello Folks - I am planning to pursue higher education in Manitoba (MS or MBA). I am an experience international applicant with significant international experience (6 years in USA, 6 years in India). I have a family - spouse and 2 year child. I have experience in Management Consultancy, Information Technology and Healthcare consulting.

I would like to pursue either MS or MBA (I know I am at a higher age level for MBA but that's a separate topic).

I want to know about the job market in Manitoba. I am ready to put in the hard work, invest time, money but in return I am hoping for a moderately good job and a chance to settle in Manitoba. Secondly, should I go for 1 year course or 2 year course (considering my goal is to find work and eventually secure a PR through Manitoba PNP)?

For comparison sake, I am earning 30 Lacks in India which is around $53,000 CAD. My motivation to settle in Canada is to leverage my NA experience, change of location for better life style and facilities and good education for my kids. I totally understand that I may not be to find a high paying job in Canada easily and I am ready to work my way up.

Appreciate your response.

The short answer is that an MS or an MBA never guarantees you a good job. Right now all job makets in Canada have been impacted by COVID-19. It's really impossible for us to say what the economic recovery will be like and how this will impact employment over the next few years. The cost of living between India and Canada are extremely different. So a $53K salary in Canada will not buy you the same lifestyle as the same salary in Canada. Make sure you research cost of living.

I would very very strongly recommend that you take a 2 year program so that you qualify for a 3 year PGWP.

Good luck.
