Study while in process?

Hi all!

So I am currently in Canada waiting while my PR is in process. I am getting bored not working and all and was wondering if it is possible to apply for a study permit while I am here to do some courses and upgrade my Maritime Licenses ( I am in the Maritime Industry). How long will it take to get one etc.

Its just an idea so anyone who has any other thoughts/ideas feel free to comment.

Kinda feels like I'm stuck in a big hole where my career used to be!

Oh and I applied Outland through Pretoria, South Africa!

How long is the course? If it's less than six months then I don't believe you need a study visa.
