I am in my second semester in my L.L.M progam and I have completed my first semester. The last date to withdraw from the program is May 31st, 2021 to receive a refund of my second semester fees.

Unfortunately, I have received a rejection on my visa application. Please guide me on further steps to be taken.

Reasons:
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on the purpose of your visit.
• Your proposed studies are not reasonable in light of: your qualifications, previous studies, mark sheets, academic record, level of establishment and/or your future prospects and plans

I have also received a letter that my Biometrics is valid and I do not need to give it again when I reapply.
I am a lawyer and I am pursuing my Masters in law so I am wondering what should I do?

I had filed my study permit application on November 6th, 2020.

I had received my biometrics letter on December 22nd, 2020.

I had completed my biometrics on December 30th, 2020 and the same was uploaded on my GC key.

My course at York university started online on January 7th, 2021 and I have completed my first semester. (its a one year course which ends in December 2021)

My medical has been updated on February 11th, 2021 on my GC key.

My reviewing, eligibility, and background information check has started on March 4th, 2021.

You started a program without a study permit? Why did you start a L.L.M if you have a law degree and you can’t practice in Canada. Order GCMS notes.

I shall apply for GCMS notes. I have 3 options to Appeal, Withdraw or reapply ??

Once you have GCMS, you can make the decision whether to reapply or withdraw. It is up to you. If you want to appeal, you will need a Canadian immigration lawyer to file for a judicial review. Decisions are based on whether the officer made errors based on regulations and the law. As a lawyer, you can look up the process for judicial review.

The only problem is that the last date for me to withdraw from the program is May 31, 2021, so I feel I am short of time. What do you think is the fastest remedy for me ?

I am sorry, I can’t make that decision for you. You decided to start a program without a study permit. You can complete the program without the study permit and without credit for Canadian education.

In general it doesn’t make a lot of sense to do an LLM in Canada if you have to prove that you will be using the degree to advance your career in your home country.

Hi, I would like to know if I take a leave of absence for my 2nd semester and begin my second term in fall, would that affect my Post- graduate work permit?

Yes it could in your situation because you weren’t ever approved as an international student but I don’t think you have much of a choice unless you want to take the course as an online student from your home country. Not sure that is even an option for your program. Is distance learning possible for your course?
