study visa overstay

i went canada in 2002 on student visa for one year, then after a year i extended visa untill 2005, after that i overstayed about 9 years then i came back to sri lanka, now im trying study for degree in culinary arts in different country, is it possible for me to get study visa again to different country like new zealand?? please help!!!!!

With respect this is a Canada forum so maybe this question should be asked in a New Zealand forum but an overstay of 9 years is pretty serious in any country even more so if you may have worked illegally in that time.
