study permit with new passport

Hi, I am extending my study permit & I also have renewed my passport. in the inquiry for requesting my study permit, should I state the new passport number or the old one on which I have on my old study permit

I used my new passport number since this is the only valid travel document.
The old passport was deactivated once the new was issued

In the "Supporting Documents" section under "Passport," you will upload your new passport with your study permit.
In the "Optional Documents" section under "Client Information," you will upload your old passport.
Make sure in your "letter of explanation" to justify the reasons for your new passport.
