study permit will expire when applying for the work permit

My study permit will expire on Aug 31, 2016, but I will finished my final exam on Aug 26, 2016. After the final grade releases, I am going to apply post graduation work permit. I searched on the CIC website, "a valid study permit when applying for the work permit". At the beginning of September, my study permit will expire and I will get my grade at that time. Do I need to apply for study permit extension now?
