Hi Guys,

I have been admitted to Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto. I am applying for Study Permit and my wife is applying for Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) as spouse of international student.

I am financing tuition through education loan and living expenses through personal savings. I am showing funds of more than 14,000 CAD (10,000+4,,000) as living expenses.

My consultant is saying that I need to prepare an affidavit that I will financially support my wife while in Canada. However, I am not convinced. Why I need it when I am showing the funds myself and explaining in LOE that I am taking my wife to canada and financing her.

Please suggest whether I need the affidavit or not.

Affidavit will be helpful. You may get away without it, but having it would be more secured.

Ideally you may wanna show some more money for flight + initial costs (say 3K-5K more)

If your wife intends to work, application has to be for spouse open work permit.
