I am applying for a Canadian study permit for a 2-year MBA program , i am 23 and I and I have a bachelors in business administration and would like some feedback on my funding situation.

  • I have full funding for my first year (tuition + living expenses).
  • For my second year, my older brother has agreed to act as a co-sponsor. He can provide a support letter along with his bank statements to show his ability to assist if necessary.

My main questions:

Since I already have first-year funds covered, will showing my brother as a co-sponsor for the second year be strong enough for IRCC?
Should I keep the SOP simple and just mention my brother as a co-sponsor, or also add part-time work/scholarship plans as supplemental options?

Any feedback from those who’ve been in a similar situation would be greatly appreciated.

and also is my case strong ?

What school? So if you received a scholarship you provide the letter that shows that funding is guaranteed for tuition and living expenses. You can include your brother's funds but need to include your bank statements too.

Don't know if case is strong. Depends on how you justify costs with the career/job and pay you will have when you return. Need to show ties to return and explain why you must take a MBA program in Canada and not in home country or elsewhere.

Niagara University in Ontario, I don’t have any scholarship offers but in my SOP I wanted to put that I will seek scholarship to help fund my second year alongside my brothers help, I can fully cover my first year living and tuition. I was just wondering what should I say about my second year financial situation.

So NFU is a private school only opened last year for international students with a poor reputation that no business has heard of. No Canadians attend the school. Pick another school because no way you can justify going there versus Western, York etc. Going to a school in your home country is a better use of funds. Not sure how you can say you will have better career opportunities. It really is a garbage school in a strip mall.

If you have PAL, and your own funds showing tuition and living expenses for first year then you show that with your brother's funds. You will not get scholarships.

NUO is a different university than NFU. is my first year funding and my brothers support for second alone enough to be financial proof to IRCC?

Still a private school only for international students that no Canadian attends nor anyone has heard of. So comments still apply. A strip mall in Vaughn and not even in Niagara.

Your finances are fine. You should change your school to York.

OP has mentioned supporting themselves by part time work, that only works against their application in terms of funding.

Thought OP mentioned it for second year only. But yes saying supplement with part time work doesn't strengthen application but shows cannot afford to study at Niagara University (didn't even know it existed).

Insane that provinces keep licensing these degree mills. I had never heard of it either. I hope that Ontario allocates no to minimal PALs to these schools.

If your goal is career success go to another at least top 20 MBA program from a public university in Canada. Top 10 would be better. If not attending a top ranking MBA program in your home county. If your goal is to immigrate to Canada got to something like nursing school whether in Canada or in your home country (research what will be necessary to get licensed in Canada) or become a teacher. Learn French. No shortage of MBAs grads these days so graduating from a school that most Canadian employers have never heard of will not lead to job opportunities in business.

Did a consultant recommend this school? If so assume they are receiving a kickback since nobody in Canada would recommend this school.

Ok I will change my school and my Masters to either masters of business analytics, master of accounting or finance and seek a better university… I won’t mention I will work part time even though that’s just for second year …. For second year I will mention that my brother will support…. My first year will be fully funded living and tuition.

Thoughts ?
