Study permit renewal

My study permit and TRV will be expiring on the 30th of Nov 2018. Would it be fine if I travel back to my home country from May 2018 to Sept 2018 or Should I not take the risk ?

I'll start working on extending the document once I get back to University.Ill still be left with 3 years of 6 year Program.

I've heard that the normal protocol is to not travel 1year within thr expiry date !

You heard it wrong. If that's a 'scheduled' summer time according to your school, you are good to go.
