Hello,

I have secured a funded PhD admission with an annual funding of CAD 20,000. This funding does not include tuition, which has been reduced to approximately CAD 6,000 for the first year due to my PhD status.
During my initial application, I attached my acceptance letter (which mentioned both the funding and reduced tuition), along with my personal bank statement showing around CAD 7,000. I believed this would be sufficient since I already had confirmed funding. However, my visa application was refused, with the reason stating that I had not demonstrated sufficient financial capacity to sustain my stay in Canada.
I am now reapplying. This time, I have secured additional funds from my father (around CAD 19,000), which have been deposited into my account. I also have a cash gift deed/affidavit stating that my father has given me this amount out of natural love and affection, and that I am not required to return it.

Since this is my second application, I want to ensure I address all financial concerns properly. My father does not maintain a formal bank account balance as he keeps his savings in cash. However, I can provide his salary slips and an affidavit of financial support from him.
Could you please advise whether this would be sufficient? Additionally, what other supporting documents should I include this time to clearly demonstrate my financial capacity?

Thank you for your guidance.

20k will be difficult to live on in many regions of Canada and you also have to add travel costs. Your savings will only cover 3 years of tuition.

The 20000 funding i have received is for one year ,meaning I'll receive 20000 every year from university.
So as far my bank statement and personal funds ,I have to prove ircc one year of tution and living ,which I think is comfortably covered by funding and my personal funds .

I'll appreciate any clarification on this ,thanks

You need to do research on how expensive it is to live in Canada .
Albeit I’m in Toronto, but I pay $2000/month for a bachelor condo . So that’s $24000/year right there
That’s not including food etc

I did realize that. IRCC wants to see that you’ll be able to both support yourself (especially in certain regions of Canada) and be able to pay your tuition for I assume 5 years. There will also be concerns about the source of the 19k since it was in cash and not sitting in a bank for at least 6 months. How much more cash do your parents have if they don’t use a bank? Proof of their yearly incomes may also help if they have it because it could show that they may be able to accumulate extra savings to support you in a few years if necessary. Proof of how they have accumulated 19k in cash also important given no ability to trace where the funds are from. No point of approving someone if they won’t be able to pay their tuition in the final years. What is your country of origin?
