You can, but you will have to wait for the study permit to be processed to start working.
My husband have SOWP and currently working. if both are in implied status, me applying PGWP and extension his sowp, can he work ?
No you dont have to i confirmed this with IRCC as long as you didn’t went out of status you can work full time from the next day after your PGWP Application
Not necessary. you can apply even if application to extend SP has not started, provided you meet eligibility for pgwp

did you get any updates i applied for study permit restoration on August 4th 2021 no replies or any updates from ircc it is frustrating.
IRCC official Twitter account said you can’t start working if you had implied status when applying for pgwp. I also talked to immigration agents and they said the same thing.
However this was in 2020 (the post), so not sure now. I am in similar position and really stressed out as well.

My study permit extension just got approved for second program for sept 2022 intake. Applied Feb 19th Study permit and son's VV extension approved yesterday April 22nd.
