Hi Folks, hope everyone is doing fine although this covid craziness.

That's my situation:
I hold an study permit that is valid until mid July;
I just finish my course, now in April;
My partner is working under a open work permit linked to my current study permit.
I am considering taking another course, beginning on September/2020.

If I apply for this new course while my study permit is still valid (lets say, on May), can I ask for a study permit extension or should I apply all over again for a new student visa?
If I have to apply for a new visa, would this interfere in my partner job? Will he have to stop working at some point?

Thanks for your time and consideration!

You apply for extensions.

You can work part-time until you receive written confirmation of program completion. At that point you are not allowed to work again until you receive a letter of acceptance from a new school. You may find it difficult right now to actually get a Sept 2020 acceptance.

Your partner can work as long as his permit is valid. If you get a letter of acceptance and apply for extensions, he can continue to work.
