Hello,

I came to canada on May, 2011 for 2 years diploma in Centennial college, toronto . I did my 3 semesters as a full-time student till the end of August, 2012 [ I took 1 semester off in between]. But due to my bad academic standing , i was placed on Academic Suspension. Instead of wasting time . I took a admission in ESL in saskatchewan on september, 2012 in Public funded College to cut the reason for bad grade. [I was too late to take admission in Toronto] . After completing ESL , i came back to Toronto and anyhow convinced Centennial College to cancel my remaining 4 months of suspension[ i have certificate for ESL]. Now from Jan 2013 , i'm continuing my course in Centennial as Full-time student. I never worked in Canada as my parents were sponsored me for all expenses.
Now i will apply for study permit extension , my permit is expiring on 30th April,2013.
1.My first problem is about bad academic standing . How to make them understand that i'm a genuine student.
2. Do i need to submit my transcript ?
3. Before submitting my fees for JAN intake 2013 , I have printed a bank statement for Permit extension Showing $7800 [on 8th jan]. I will be applying in next week . Can i use that statement as now i only have around $2000.

A little help will be appreciated.

Thanks

1&2. It's optional to submit transcript, you can avoid it. Submit only program registration letter from school.
3. Yes, it's fine.

But in the document Checklist , Transcript is not mentioned as Optional.

So you mean to say that old statement is fine ?

Enfield i really appreciate your help towards the newbie in this forum.
Thanks man

1. Read again; a letter from institutional registrar and/or photocopies of transcript from your last two periods of study.

As written on checklist

1. Proof of acceptance from an educational institution, as Specified [ This is the letter of acceptance, I already got it]

2.Proof of academic standing at institution - Letter from institutional registrar and/or photocopies of transcript from your last two periods. [ What is this ?] i have no idea about this letter. Do they mean to say the acceptance letter only or a written letter from registrar about my academic standing ?

Thanks

It should be either one. If you are a new student then you must provide LOA, but if you are existing student then you must provide proof of academic standing, such as your academic transcript.

1. Based on my personal experience, you can submit ONLY a new LOA.

@Belitang
Thanks for the reply. Yes, I'm a existing student. But previous also many people told me to submit the LOA only.

@Enfield
Thanks for the help. Anyways I will be applying with the help of a Immigration Consultant, So will clarify it from him.
Meanwhile, if you come across anything. Do help me please.

Thanks

What's your view about submitting old bank statement ?

Any views about the transcripts ?

You were admitted originally for a 2 year program, did not complete it in the stated time. A visa officer needs to know why or in other words, be satisfied that you are a genuine student. This is not possible without transcripts.

Sometimes omitting a necessary document can raise red flags and trigger a deeper look at things. Your application may be sent to the local office in Toronto for investigation.

Also, the letter of admission should be recent, so ask your registrar's office for another copy. Submit the bank statement you have, they will return it anyway.

As a former student myself, I would bet they request your transcripts. You can either submit the transcripts with an explanation and supporting documents(ESL certificate, letter from school with permission to continue your studies, etc) or omit it and hope for the best.

And as you said i can submit old bank statement . right ?

Yes, you can. If you've paid your fees, include a copy of the receipt with your application.

Hi bro

Since you’ve been through this I’d like to ask .

I joined a one year program which I couldn’t complete, now I want to withdraw from it and change field of study and program .

I will also have to extend my study permit as it expires Aug 30 .

My new program starts Aug 26 .

With regards to documents for study permit extension , can I submit withdrawal letter and new LOA ???
