I seem to be experiencing a delay in printing of the study permit… Let me explain, it might help some of you who are waiting and if other people have had this experience it will be great if they share it here as well.
I am currently in Canada on an Open Work Permit. I was accepted to a PhD program at McGill University for May 2016, I applied and got the CAQ in January and applied for the Study Permit the in end of Jan 2016. After the processing time has passed I requested the information via the case specific enquiry form and got the following reply: ”We have forwarded the information you provided to the responsible office. They will contact you only if they require further information”.
Ten working days later I called and was able to get an answer. Nothing has happened with my application until I send the case specific enquiry. They have approved my permit shortly after that, but I was not notified in any way (still no status change online, no email etc…), I found out only because I called. The printing and sending of the permit will take up to 3 months
. That is absurd, but they say that they cannot do anything and can’t even give me a document to present to McGill to enroll on time. The permit might still arrive on time, but it is strange that they have not changed anything online yet.
Did anybody else have this experience? Do you know how long the printing will take in reality, 3 months to print and send one paper seems way too long?
For those of you waiting send the case specific enquiry after the processing time has passed and if your situation online has not changed. Then call 10 working days after that you might be experiencing the same thing I am.
