@Emreeee congratulations! Could you please share your SOP and LOE at sheenasuj2013@gmail.com? Your help would be highly appreciated, I also have a large academic gap and will be applying soon.
You should create your own!! We all know what are the topics that need to be covered and every individual has different characteristics, plans, aspects, studies, personal issues etc. Take your time and write your own. ATB.

Hi, I have already created my own but since my situation is very similar to his, I would just like to go through his SOP once to see if there is anything I may have unintentionally missed to include.

Hey guys!

I wanted to share the good news with you. Happy to help if you have any questions. Some of the factors which I believe affected positively;

Changed field of study to a more related one on the second try.
Removed my family from visa application.
Worked on my SOP for 2 week, justified each reason of the previous refusal.
Raised available funds up to an amount of 3 times of total study and living cost (including my family). That is a very important factor, I believe. Especially if you are an adult learner, you should show a well amount of funds available belongs to you not your parents.
Attached a letter of support from my current project manager.
Paid full tuition fee.

Wish you all good luck. Don't give up just work on your application and try to strengthen it.
Hiiii ....
I have 3 refusals so can you please share your SOP and LOE ..it will be a great help for me.

Sorry what's an sop?
Statement of Purpose/ Letter of Intent.. Basically a placeholder where you can explain things which you could not tell in your application forms... why you want to study a program, explanation of gap, achievement etc

Sorry for delay. So many requests of SOPs. I am sharing it below. Please keep in mind that you should write yours on your own. I am sharing it with you to only give an idea about the template. Cover each section (such as why Canada, why this school) but most important thing is, you should focus your own weak points and justify them in your SOP. And don't use too many typical sentences.

Dear Visa Officer,

I have been granted unconditional admission for the summer intake (03 May, 2021) CPJ2 – Construction Project Management, One-Year Ontario College Graduate Certificate Program from Fanshawe College (DLI # O19361039982), London, Ontario, Canada. First term of the program will be delivered fully online due to current pandemic. I am submitting this letter to explain my study plan.

Past study and professional background;

I have Bachelors’ of Civil Engineering degree from .... University, ....., completed on Aug. 2008. Since then, I have been working at international mega construction projects with top .... contractors, with no significant gap. At the moment, I am working at ... Nuclear Power Plant Project with an estimated cost of USD$20 billions (For more info; http://www....../).

Please see below for chronological list of my work experiences;

Time FrameJob TitleCompany
Jan. 2009 – Sep. 2010Civil Engineer...Construction Company
Apr. 2011 – Sep. 2011Quality Control Engineer..Construction Co.
Dec. 2011 – Feb. 2012Civil Engineer....Construction Co.
May 2012 – Jan. 2013Construction Manager...Construction Company
Apr. 2013 – Aug. 2013Quality Control Chief..Construction Company
Aug. 2013 – Mar. 2014Quality Department ChiefConstruction Company..
Apr. 2014 – Aug. 2016Superstructure Chief...Industries
Aug. 2016 – Aug. 2019Chief Engineer....Company
Sep. 2019 – Oct. 2020Site Chief... Construction Company
Oct. 2020 - OngoingSite ChiefI...JV

Reason of returning to study after 12 years of work experience;

During my career, I have built-up good level of understanding in technical side of civil engineering and mostly focused combining computer programming with civil engineering. In addition to that, I have learnt and affectively used English and Russian languages. In 2012, my experience as a construction manager in ...Construction Co. which was a high management position ended up quickly because of insufficient knowledge in construction project management. Since then, I have not been able to get beyond of the technical and low level management positions. Since 2013, I have been working mostly as a Chief, which is a low management position, at various departments in top contractors of the region.

My applications for promotion in .....in 2019 and recently in I... JV was denied because of inadequacy of my theoretical knowledge and because of not having a formal education on construction project management field. As a matter of fact, even if I had the promotion, I fear that I could not handle a construction management position because of the lack of my knowledge on the field.

With returning to study, I aim to eliminate deficiency on my theoretical background to advance my career to a high level management position which I have been striving for a long time.

How will a Construction Project Management Post Graduate Certificate benefit me?

By completing my intended study, I will have the essential knowledge, skills and an official post graduate certificate to easily advance to an upper management position. My purpose is to have promotion as a construction manager and eventually as a project manager. Construction managers in the industry are paid approximately 50% more than my current salary and project managers are paid up to 2.5 times of my current salary. Therefore, pausing my current career and completing a 1-year long study will be highly rewarding for my future career and economically as well.

Why am I not pursuing a similar program in my home country?

Thanks to my multinational work environment, English has been the most common language that I have been using at my daily work activities for years. That’s why, studying construction project management in English is a must for me to specialise it in the same language which I use at work so that I can learn it’s terminology in English and be on the same page with my co-workers after graduation. There is no one-year long post graduate program in ...... delivered in English language. Having a study more than one year will cause me to disconnect from my current employer and from construction industry. In addition to that, after my careful research, I have observed that similar programs offered in my country are out dated and do not meet the needs of todays construction industry.

Why have I chosen to study in Canada?

I strongly believe that hands on education is the most affective way of learning. Canada provides updated, practical and world class education which is recognized globally. Canadian education institutes are considered great value which is no less then the ones in US and European Countries. Nonetheless, compared to other English speaking countries across the world, tuition fees are more affordable in Canada.

Why Fanshawe College? Why not a master program?

Unlike master programs which are solely theory based, academy focused and take 2 years to complete, Fanshawe’s CPJ2 program takes 1 year to complete and it is completely industry focused which exactly meets with my future goals. The program fulfills the needs of today’s construction managers by combining theoretical knowledge with practical learning. As an example to that, the program includes a course called Applied Construction Project Management (CONS-6006) which students manage a complex construction project simulation. Fanshawe College offers an innovative and hands on learning experience with 81.2% graduate satisfaction rate which is well above average in Canada.

Ties to my home country and employment prospects after study;

I have a wife, 2 children and my parents who are residing in ..... I am not filing a visa application for any of them. I own a flat in my hometown (see Attachment 14) and I have a vehicle.

Since the first term of the program is fully on-line because of the pandemic, I am not going to move to Canada but continue working part time for my current employer who supports me for my study plans. If the delivery of the program continues to be on-line, I will keep working part time on the second term of study as well and I will be officially on leave from my current employer at that period (Attachment #1).

Despite of high unemployment rates in ....in other sectors, construction industry has been a booming sector in ....for a very long time. In recent years mega construction projects such as ...Airport, 3rd Bridge in ..., ...Nuclear Power Plant have being carried out and more mega projects are planned to be started at the near future, such as ...NPP and Canal Istanbul. More importantly, I have had a very stabile career in the sector since my graduation and I haven’t been unemployed even one day since April 2013. I have worked for P...s, E...a, Rc, R.... and I.... companies which are the topnotch firms in ...and some of the top contractors in the World (according to Engineering News Record Top 250 Contractors). Currently I am working at the biggest construction project ever built in ...(...NPP, USD$20 billions). I have a letter of support from my current employer who states that they might consider me for a promotion after my study (See Attachment #1). I have no worries at all about working with my employer with a promotion or finding a construction management job after my study period.

Reason of changing the intended study field;

Previously, I have applied to study Computer Programmer Analyst Advanced Diploma Program. Despite of my education history which did not match with the computer programming, I have always tried to use my computer programming knowledge, which I have obtained by my personal interest, in my engineering career. However, so far my enthusiasm on the subject did not benefited my career adequately and it did not impact my income significantly either.

I believe developing my managerial skills and advancing my career from low level to higher level managerial positions will be much more useful for my future and for my income. Studying construction project management which is much more related with my past experience and with my past study will be more rewarding for my future goals. That’s why I have decided to choose to study construction project management instead of computer programming and decided to leave computer programming as a hobby.
