Hi. I have applied for Fanshawe's May 2014 intake and have gotten accepted but now that the visa application is left to be done, I am worried about one thing. I graduated in 2012. So, it's been 2 years now. But in these two years, I did some freelance work making some websites and got paid for it. How can I prove that I did so when it was freelance work?

Yes, but will it suffice to simply explain it in SOP or will more be required of me? Furthermore, I was thinking of what my chances are, of getting the visa approved. Following are my particulars:

10th - 67%
12th - 52%
15th - 57%

IELTS - 8.5 bands with:
Reading - 9
Listening - 8.5
Speaking - 7.5
Writing - 8

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Here's my profile:

30 years gap of education
No highschool
No IELTS (grew up with the language)
Decided to make a career change, hence in college. Although my old career relates to the new one, somewhat.
My old career is ALL freelance.
I am from a visa exempt country.

Result:
I got accepted to my chosen program at my chosen college.
I got my study visa.
I am waiting for my OCWP.

I wrote an explanatory cover letter (I think you guys call it SOP) with my study permit application.

I hope that helps.

On CIC website, Canada never said that they got problem with gap years. However it might affect your studies as it is sometimes harder to get back in touch with studies. But you should explain in the SOP why there was a gap/what you did during that time of period/how it is putting a positive effect on your studies. In western countries, I have seen people going for a gap year because they are want to get rid of studies for a while and want to return with a fresh mind. So, I do not think gap year matter here.

Canada promotes returning to college/university even if it means changing career. You have to be flexible in your career choices these days. Canada have also noticed that mature students (25 and up, I believe) have a greater success rate then those who come straight out of highschool.

Thank you :) I've still gone ahead and included proof of it as testimonials typed by the people for who I've made the websites along with their phone numbers and site URLs. I hope that will suffice.

This is something amazing. I made a personal statement and end up with 4 sheets. Is that an over explanation?

Well, you want to make it brief and at the same time explanatory. You don't want to bore the visa officer with irrelevant information, just write what you believe is really necessary and try to keep it short, no more than one page or 2 tops.

I have mentioned every thing in points. All my points are relevant. I tried modifying in between to make it short, but I feel like I miss something to write.

can anyone please enlighten me about study gap. i am going to apply at UBC for fall 2015 intake. i just completed my 12th last week. will there be any problem if there is a gap of 1 year in my education?
moreover i have two sisters and both of them live in canada on study permit. one of them will apply for PSWP this summer. will my visa get refused for having poor ties with my country. my parents will live in my home country. please tell me i am very nervous

P.S.:- i worked really hard in exams and expect above 90% in 12th cbse board if god bless me. i even have 10 cgpa in 10th. i am now prparing for SAT. i have a strong academic record but my only problem is poor ties with my country. ???

Thanks!

Mine was less than a page.

And I have my OCWP now and my SIN card. Already done my first freelance gig as well and booked for another.

I know it has been years since your last update.
But could you please tell me if you got your visa in time?
Ive a gap year of 3 years, i was doing nothing productive, just travelling and pursuing my passion for poetry and fitness but out of those 3 years, i did a job for 7 months. My scores are 10th-68% 12th - 74% BBA - 58%. Please someone tell me what are my chances of getting a study visa if i get a Letter of acceptance from a college for PGDM course.? Thank you in advance.
