I wish you could be applying both separate will improve your chances of VISA approval for you then based on your VISA later end apply for your wife that will be advisable method; even am up to the same - as of now I have applied for me study permit once I get it in hand will apply for my wife SOWP which would take 2-4 months but no other go which got more chances than applying together.
