Student visa holder get lmia

Hello there, i am a student visa holder here in saskatchewan canada and someone offered a job and they produced lmia for me. Is it possible for me to change my status from student visa to work permit and how? Thanks

You would need to apply for a closed work permit tied to that specific employer. You would follow the same process as anyone else when applying for the work permit (there is no special process for converting a study permit to a work permit).

Get a lawyer!! You are one of the few lucky ones to get an Lmia. Assuming you already have some education and work experience in Canada, it should be a relatively easy application for residency and not just a closed work permit!!

hi scylla, im just gonna ask a quick query here: if the person above applies for closed WP, would his student status first get removed and then he would be given a wp... or how would it work? Just trying to understand the process
