Student Permit - when?

Please guide when the Student Permit is issued, at the port of entry? or is it got later? Similarly my program is with Coop option, so when will the Work Permit be issued?

What documents I should carry for showing at Port of entry
1. Visa
2. Acceptance from Univ.
3.Letter from Embassy + WP Letter + SP Letter from embassy
4.Fee Receipt from University

Anything else?

Yes, they issue you study permit at the port of entry, look at your passport it should be SW1 type if it's COOP program, they will issue you the permit accordingly it's all systematic :-*

My visa says Category S-1

Is this correct?

From the embassy in addition to the Visa approval letter, I got 2 additional letter, one says SP and other says WP

S1 is Study Only Visa.

SW1 is Study And Work Visa ( Usually Given to Those students who are Going for a Co-Op Program which requires Credits Of Work at Some Place )

You should be getting one letter, which works both for SP and WP.

What is difference between S-1 and SW-1 visa?
I thought anyone on Student Visa can also work 20 hours part time.

Can I avail COOP program if I am on S-1. I am trying to locate official information on this, can anyone point to the gov website which could clarify this. Thanks
