do you guys know if a refugee claimant can be denied the study
Permit like those in the regular stream regardless of funds?

I’ve heard conflicting information

Others say it’s basically how every claimant gets a work permit and healthcare card and others say it isnt

If u guys could clear up id appreciate, thanks

Yes study permits certainly get refused for asylum applicants. Asylum seekers are not entitled to study permit. Something got missed in translation since it also wouldn’t give you provincial healthcare in many provinces because there are special international student health plans. You would be entitled for a work permit and also the refugee healthcare coverage. In the past you couldn’t even get a work permit if you had the funds to live without receiving welfare.
