I applied under the BC Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) and submitted my federal application in July 2021. All stages of my application—including medicals, eligibility, and criminality—were completed by March 2023, at which point I also received my pre-arrival letter.

In April 2023, I was asked to submit an updated Police Clearance Certificate (PCC), which I promptly provided. Since then, I have not received any further communication regarding my application. Based on my understanding and GCMS notes, it appears that the file is currently pending finalization due to the security screening process.

It has now been over 25 months since the last update, and I remain stuck in this final stage with no clear timeline or information on when it may be completed. This prolonged delay is causing significant uncertainty in my life. I am unable to make long-term decisions regarding my career and personal plans while waiting for the final step in a process that has already extended well beyond normal processing times.

I would deeply appreciate any update or clarification you could provide regarding the status of my application, particularly in relation to the security screening stage. Your assistance and understanding are greatly appreciated during this difficult waiting period.

No one here works for IRCC. This is not a government site and we cannot tell you the status of your application.

Security check can be delayed if you have a military or government background. It can also be delayed based on your country of origin or where you have lived and worked. For example, if you happen to be from China, this can often result in a longer background and security check since this country does not fully cooperate with Canada in sharing information. Without knowing your profile, hard to say what may be causing the delay.

You can try hiring an immigration lawyer to do a mandamus to try to force IRCC to make a decision in your application. That is one option.
