Nothing will go with same speed. Atleast ottawa is working, as it says PAFSO members will withdraw all services until further notice at Canada’s fifteen largest visa processing centres abroad: Abu Dhabi, Ankara, Beijing, Cairo, Delhi/Chandigarh, Hong Kong, London, Manila, Mexico City, Moscow, Paris, Riyadh, Sao Paulo, and Shanghai.

Do they contact Indian offices for any document during PR process ? And, I dont think this strike will go more than week now. I talked to one of my friend at Delhi according to him there are 10,000 backlog at Delhi office for now.

By withdrawing all services from offices abroad....the resources previously available for PR processing in Ottawa will remain reallocated to visa processing - in order to maintain minimum operations. Therefore, a certain delay should be expected. In other words....and until further notice....we are f***ed (slower processing). Brilliant! Lol ;D

Unions...sigh...

Well guys, looks like we might be seeing our processing times stretch out over 2 years. I remember when I applied for my PGWP in 2010 during the canada post strike, my processing time went from 3 weeks to 4 months...even though I applied online and there were no papers for canada post to deliver to them.

Now imagine the actual visa workers are striking. We are utterly screwed...there's no sugarcoating this. My WP expires in August, 2014, and I'm reasonably sure I won't have anything by then...

People whose work permits are expiring soon should absolutely get BWOP ASAP. We're going to be waiting for a loooooooong time >:(

Just our luck...

Funny thing is that these guys' salaries dwarf what engineers make in the private sector...go on http://jobs-emplois.gc.ca/index-eng.htm if you don't believe me. Look at the salaries the government pays!

This strike can't go more than 2 weeks .. It's too.much loss for the government.

It is more than two months now....

question
is this f... strike affecting people that is waiting for PPR from ottawa ??
i heard that ottawa is working but some people say that ottawa is affected too
any comment??

PR processing at Ottawa has definitely not stopped. But it is moving at snail's pace as available resources have been re-allocated to fill gaps in other departments. Expect major delays in getting results.

I see some ray of hope for all of us here...This is the statement from PAFSO on their facebook page:

"We are exploring a number of avenues to persuade the employer to return to negotiations. However, we are unable to share details of our strategy on a public web page. Please watch this site for updates as we can make them available."

Hope that they could come back to work asap

Keep fingers crossed! All is well!
