Hi everyone,

My girlfriend is from the Philippines on the live-in caregiver program. Here is the situation:

- I need to relocate from Vancouver to Calgary for a career opportunity I cannot refuse and we want to go together.
- She was laid off her contract of over 1+ years, and was just approved for a new LMIA here in Vancouver but hasn't applied for the new work permit yet.
- We are a few months away from being common-law, she still needs 8 months of employment as a caregiver to apply for PR on her own.

What should we do? Decline her new job even though LMIA was approved? Move to Calgary and have her apply for work there? Move to Calgary and I sponsor her in a few months? If anyone has any tips or suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Until when is her current WP valid?

How many is "a few months" exactly for common-law?

Do you have the evidence necessary to prove common-law?

Her current WP/Visa is good until the end of 2016, December. We've lived together for about five months that we can prove with Canada Revenue Mail, Phone Bills, etc.
