hi there,
I'm on an IEC permit currently from australia and want to extend my stay with the potential to stay permanently.
I have a restaurant management job currently and my boss is prepared to work with me.
I am getting confusing information from CIC website and want to try and find out my best way to go about applying for extended status.
My current status expires in November.
TIA

As an Australian, you can only participate in the IEC program once. It's not possible to extend your IEC.

If you want to remain in Canada and continue working after the expiry of your IEC, your employer needs to obtain an approved LMIA so that you can switch to a closed work permit tied to that specific employer.

The LMIA process takes months to complete so would suggest your employer start now. Details here:

https://www.canada.ca/en/employment...gn-workers/median-wage/high/requirements.html

Just to add to the above, you should also calculate how many points you currently have under Express Entry. This might give you some options for applying to immigrate (depending on the points you have).

Make sure you do not count 50 points for having a job offer when you calculate your points. You can only claim job offer points if your employer can get an approved LMIA.
