I applied to for the permanet residency based on H & C grounds, I have a visitor status right now and I am waiting for an answer of the first stage. I would like to know if I can stay or I have to renew my status as a visitor even after I applied or I would have a kind of imply status.

Hi there, I am not a lawyer but in my experience I would say apply for some other status, such as student permit- then you will automatically qualify for work permit. then with your school qualifications, you will be able to get a job- while you await the decision of your H&C application. And if that does not work out, then you can reapply for permanent residence under having a work permit for 3 plus years or something like that. Please go on the CIC website and read up on this, consult with a community lawyer. They are usually free.
