Background check We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information.

Final decision Your application is in progress. We will send you a message once the final decision has been made.

Canadian immigration has two arms pre-ITA and post-ITA. Pre-ITA starts when an applicant creates an online profile and submits its express entry profile. If they have the highest CRS, they move towards ITA. Post-ITA starts with submitting the required documents based on the information provided.

Many applicants get goosebumps, develop unnecessary anxiety and make irrelevant assumptions about their application post-ITA. We end up giving numerous calls and send web forms related to our application. I thought why not just to write a post about post-ITA process.

Here are the steps:-

1. R10 passed check

After receiving ITA, applicants need to submit their online application within 60 calendar days (remember not business days). I can also define this step as a completeness check. Always remember that your 6 months starts when you meet the r10 check which means 6 months kick in when your r10 is passed but not at the time of submitting an application. In this step, program assistants working with IRCC are required to check your application and compare the checklist. If there is any gap in your application process, then it will be rejected and refunded according to the section 10 of the Immigration and refugees protection. This step also includes an additional check which is medical check. This will be reviewed by the Health authority of Canada.

2. Eligibility requirements

After R10, the next step to draw IRCC employee attention is to check your eligibility. They will overlook your application and ensure that its meeting the program requirements under you submit your application. For instance, PNP, FSW etc.

The sole purpose of this step is to check whether an applicant is meeting the CRS requirements and an information entered by an applicant is not tailored in order to get an ITA. If case review officer will find something which is not going well with your information, you application will go for further review which can also results in ADR or interview or rejection.

It’s an applicant’s responsibility to inform IRCC about any status change like relationship status, do not have LMIA support letter anymore, etc.

3. Police clearance check (PCC)

I will also define this step as a criminality. If you have spent some time in any country from the age of 18 and more than 6 months, you are required to submit a police clearance certificate. Every country has its own requirements to issue police clearance. You need to check the IRCC website for the police certificate requirements.

You need to submit this certificate at the time of your application. Your PCC will be passed based on the information, travel history, and if you were not involved in any crime.

4. Security check or background check

CSIS (Canadian Security Intelligence Service) is the responsible body for this step. CSIS works with every country intelligence system in order to check your residential status. This is the most cumbersome, time eater step in this process. IRCC takes this step very seriously, as the result of your application also depends on this step. Background check involves many checks like your travel history, law involvement checks, a kind of employment you involved in, your economical and political status in your home country, stayed in any country more than required, forgery of documents.

IRCC officials can visit your employment site or call your employers if they have any questions. This is the step where applicants get calls for an interview.

This step can take 1 month to 7-8 months and once CSIS gets a report of clearance, IRCC will receive a copy of it.

5. Final Check

If you are meeting all the requirements, the program advisor (PA) will come into the picture. PA will approve or reject your file by interpreting all the regulations and policies. You will receive a ghost update in your profile, which is the sign that someone is working in your file or you will soon hear a result.

I hope this post answer your many questions, and I wish you all the speedy application process.

Your application is in nascent stage :) Since you have passed medicals and completed bio, all you can do is just wait and wait. Average processing time is anywhere between 4-8 months. However with winter holidays approaching you can expect further delay. Best luck!!

The vanishing of those two lines was just a system glitch. It happened with me too and now the message is back, it happened with a lot of people.

IRCC agent never tells you about the security status. Eligibility is passed, which is a very good thing. You could be getting a PPR anytime soon.

has anyone recently noticed percentage progress in their login besides the regular progress bar. What does this means?

It means nothing. It has no connection to the actual progress of your application.

Here's the formula for the percentage shown:
Percentage shown = MaxRound(No. of days since AOR x 10/18)
