hi everyone,

i got approved by CIC- MISSISSAUGA to sponser my spouse in Trinidad on Jan 9th 2010. They said they fowarded the application to the embassy office but i have no recieved any conformation from Port of Spain high commission that they recieved it, neither is the status for my spouse changed to in progress. Do you think there is a problem? Does it usually take more than a few weeks to get confirmation?

Any replys would be helpful

thanks

Hi

Sassy Yes depends on the visa office at ahnd BUT...as far as i know and it happened to me is that it wasnt until 1 month and a half later did i recieve a UPDATE on Ecas...Next step for your visa office is to send you a

AOR....awkknowledgment of reciept This letter confirms they are in reciept of your appliation and a B file number associated to your spouses PR appllication ...this AOR will be sent to your spouse UNLESS you have appointed a lawyer or you appainted your self as the legal rep on his file..

So yes all corespondence will be to your spouse not you ...So have your hubby start looking our for mail :)

NP

Just be patient this is sometimes a long process...Some people in my visa office Kingston Jamaica have waited 4 to 5 months and some dont even get a AOR just a change in ECAS ...My point is everyone seems to be different...

Y our visa office Process is the same as Kingston Jamaica 7-14 months ...I have been in process for almost 13 months ....

So everything is fine you will get confiormation at some point!

Hi I'm also going through Port of spain. Our application was recieved by CPC-M on March 5, 2010. I'm sponsoring my husband and right now my status in Ecas is "in process". A letter was sent out to him on May 7th. what stage are you at, since I sent mine in after you maybe you can let me know whats coming next.

Hey I am also going through POS ....

My application was in process since Aug 2009.

What type of letter has your spouse received from POS RoyalT? Was it the AOR?

It's been almost 10 months to my application and I still haven't heard anything from that SLOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW office ..... except that in response to one of my email inquiries they said that my file is in queue for a scheduled interview.

I was on POS's website last night and I was very saddened to have found this:

NOTICE

Members of the public are advised that the Visa Section of the High Commission of Canada in Port of Spain will be upgrading its database and processing systems this summer starting the week of June 28, 2010.

During this period, the Visa Section will remain open as usual, but processing times may be longer. For this reason, the High Commission would like to urge members of the public who want to travel to Canada during this period to submit their applications as early as possible. This applies also to individuals applying to work or study in Canada. Please visit our website at www.trinidadandtobago.gc.ca for instructions and application forms. Note that the Visa Section is closed to the public on Fridays, with no exception.

The High Commission of Canada in Port of Spain apologises for any inconvenience this may cause and assures the public that we are making every effort to minimise disruption to our services.

Can they get anymore unreasonable?

Kindly do keep me posted on your application status. Thanks

Yah I saw that notice about them upgrading their system a couple weeks ago; so I'm trying to prepare in my mind for a little longer wait but I'm Praying for a miracle.

Yes it was an AOR letter. They told him that they received the application and started processing on May 3rd. Also that if he requires an interview they will contact him in writing and if he doesn't hear from them within 3 months he should send back a copy of the letter they've sent to him and let them know that there has been no progress since that point.

RoyalT,

I think the AOR is BULLLLS****

Mine said the same thing and especially to contact them in 3 months if I haven't heard anything from the office. Well, I must let you know that I got my AOR in November (I think, if not it was Sep or Oct) 2009 and I have contacted them 3 months later and still never got an update. Boy oh boy, I sent them a FAX, EMAIL and never got a response. It was until a few months after contacting them for a second time I got a response stating my file is in queue for an interview.

BTW, is your hubby's situation a normal sponsorship case. Meaning not previously lived in Canada and got removed?

Oh gosh :o !! I really hope that is not the case.
Yah our case is pretty straight forward. He's never been to Canada, never married and no children.

You know i was looking at the CIC website and I realized that port of spain handle immigration for Sooo many islands. I guess that is why they take so long.

From what I have read and heard from people, the POS is probably one of the slowest offices in the Americas.

God, it's like you have to beggg them to give you an answer. Plus, it takes them 28 days to respond to an inquiry and that is only the most recent one. So, you can't just keep sending them emails each day about a different question and expect to get them all answered. Arggghhh ..... silly office.

My lawyer in Canada told me that it seems as if CIC sends all the rookies to work at this office and then if they perform well they get transferred to other offices.

God, I sometimes feel they are taking our applications and using them as experiments. You just have to keep faith and pray that one day, just one day you will get some good news.

My situation is a little complex being that I lived in Canada before and was a failed Refugee n PRRA applicant. Entered as a minor and lived for 8 years before they decided that they don't need my brilliant experiences. Never been married or kids though. I'm pretty young too and my partner and I have somewhat established ourselves in Canada.

Only thing, I will need Authorization to Return to Canada :( which is never a guarantee but I am pretty sure I have a good chance at winning it over.

Canada just decided to send you back? just like that? That's not Right!
I really hope that everything works out well for you and soon!!
it is so hard to be away from your spouse, sometimes I think they do it on purpose to put stress on the relationship to see if it can withstand it. If the people break up and withdraw their sponsorship its less work for them!

Right now, I feel frustrated just being apart from my husband and it hasn't been as long as you. I just feel to go to Trinidad until all this is settled but I would lose my job and I need to pay my mortgage so that can't work. visiting back and forth is just too expensive and going for a week or two is like a tease to the system because then you dont see them again for MONTHS!!!

I really hope and pray that everyone going through this process right now will hear something soon and can be reunited with their spouse/family.

RoyalT, it really is very hard doing it man ...

Yes, the Govt just decided that they no longer need me. I was angry about the decision seeing that I have worked my arse off trying to prove to them that I am an asset to their country. I gave up paid employment for volunteer work. Oh well, I have gained it all and I hope that one day I will be able to use all those little knowledge and experiences I have attained.

It is very hard to maintain a rship when one person is the sole provider. I came back home in GT back in January this year so I still had sometime to cheat the system, so to speak, to spend with the spouse. I am hoping that it soon too be over and done with so it can be a distant memory to me. My timeline guess is by year end or sooner.

I have to yet finish off my degree I left off too so I really want to go back in a way that soon as I land I can start back school. Hopefully back in January.

The traveling is too dam expensive too seeing that there aren't a lot of airlines that travel to GT , well only Caribbean Airlines which charge heck of a price.

Spouse is coming down in June to visit after 26 years for 2 weeks. It'll be quite an eventful trip. Then we have booked to spend a week in Barbados in August. After those 2 vacations, we will be blowing whistles cuz tax money will be done after that.. LOL .. and prices will go up for the Fall/Winter season too .. LOL

Oh well, we still try to make ends meet for now ... it hasnt been that long being away from my partner but I still miss being together.

Have you tried Skype to keep in contact with your hubbby? I do this Skype thing for around 15CDN for 3 months and I get unlimited talking. We talk like mad over the phone each day as if we are 2 mins away from each other in Canada. If you don't yet have a phone plan, i strongly suggest Skype and everything is recorded too.

Oh yahh!! I live by skype! We talk on video cam every single day; so at least we can still see each other and talk as long as we want because skype to skype is free.
there is also a program called Oovoo. its much like skype but what i like about it is that you can leave offline videos for the person. So if he came on and I wasnt there he could just record a video message for me and when I log on I'd get it. Its real nice. So we use the both of them.

I got married only last year on boxing day and I've been back once in March for 2 weeks and I'm going down in August for his cousins wedding...but after that I dont know whats going to happen because money is real tight and as you said flights get extremely expensive!!

do u know of anyone who's been through the POS office and has actually gotten through and how long the process has taken them?

I barely know of this distant family friend who sponsored her husband back in Jan last year and he got an interview in the 10th month of the sponsorship process .. he was rejected tho :(

I guess they really didn't love love loveee each other to make the sponsorship a strong case

If you know of people please be sure to share your timeline

I do pay for the skype thing .. it's like using a telephone and the records get saved into a monthly bill session except that I pay for the service every 3 months ... could do a year long subscription but I don't want to waste money and then I get to go back before the year ends .. LOL .. I can give it to my mom to use but whatever ..LOL
