Hello,

Hopefully someone can help me understand this.

I was in Canada as an international student with study permit. I got married and applied for permanent resident (sponsorship). My study permit expires a year before I got my permanent resident status card. I did not send an application for open work permit when i sent in my sponsorship application in.

I am wondering what would my status be after my study permit expires , while waiting for my p.r application to be process.

Reason I am asking is because, i am using that online citizenship calculator tool and it has these few options.
1) Visitor
2) International Student
3) Temporary worker
4) Temporary resident permit holder
5) Protected person

I am not sure which one I fall under.

Hi

If you didn't apply beforehand to extend your status in any way, then you were in Canada illegally from the time your study permit expired until you became a PR.
