When I started preparing for study Visa to Canada, I was married and hence had my spouse name on Passport. however, now when I am applying study visa, I am divorced. When checked on Immigration portal, it is written that "If you are married, you must send a photocopy of your marriage licence or certificate with your application. "

Now my marriage was not registered, so I don't have marriage certificate. Also, I have my divorce decree. But, I am not sure I shall apply as divorced as it will hamper my chances of getting visa. What Shall I do in this case ? What can be a practical solution or work around to this problem? A quick help will be much appreciated.

Regards

The thing is your current marital status is divorced. If you apply under the pretense that you are married just to improve your profile, you will be lying to IRCC which if detected, could get you a ban to apply for several years. The best thing to do is to portrait your current situation to avoid any issues of misrepresentation.

It doesn't matter if it will affect your visa approval. You need to update IRCC of your current status. You cannot pretend to be married (i.e. misrepresent to IRCC) to get your study visa. It will result in a 5 year ban.

Update your application to reflect your current martial status.
