If you have lived in the US as a PR do you need to ONLY get an FBI Certificate,

or

do you need to get individual STATE and FBI Certificates?

FBI to start the application process. If CIC wants the state certificates, they will request them later.

They have online access to the various state's criminal records. They do check, not all the time (they are supposed to) but they do check.

Hey,

If you have any concerns at all..or need to prove a dismissed case that has come up on the FBI record, then get the State background check and send it in along with your application. It will save you alot of time in the long run. Hope this helps you!!
